Off-site Access to WOHKN Resources
What is off-site?
Users are considered to be "off-site" when accessing WOHKN resources from outside of any of the WOHKN institutions.
Off-site access is provided through Athens. After registering for an Athens account, you will have access to the electronic resources of the Western Ontario Health Knowledge Network (WOHKN), using a single user name and password from any computer with an Internet connection.

Before you register, be aware of the following:
- To register, you must be employed by, or affiliated with a hospital participating in the WOHKN partnership.
- If you register from within a WOHKN partner facility, your account details will be emailed to you in a few hours. Otherwise, approval of your application by an administrator may take up to 3 business days.
- You must supply an email address that you check regularly to receive your username and password.
- It is good practice to change your password periodically. You may customize and change your Athens password as often as you like.

Due to vendor restrictions, some resources are not available off-site. These resources include:
Tips for using Athens for off-site access
After logging into Athens, you may browse the WOHKN e-journals and e-books, or search the databases as usual.
If you are prompted for an vendor user name and password (Proquest, Ovid, StatRef etc), click the Athens link that is generally located on the same page.
